Relax. I was being snarky about Scene From A Multiverse: yes. Guilty. But Scenes From A Multiverse is a snarky comic, and I made that remark mainly in a jestful attitude. I always interpreted Rosenberg's attitude to be of the "If you're going to dish it, you'd better be able to take it" kind of interplay, and my comment as supposed to reflect that. I suppose I shouldn't have to put a disclaimer here, but I guess that I'll have to: no, I don't believe that only Christians are the only ones capable of loving thy neighbor. My point of that statement, though, is that Rosenberg actually does use the phrase "caveman" and "wizard" to describe religious leader.

Not to mention that "Don't get pissy, missy" is hardly a phrase that would ever get anyone to calm down. I mean, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't if someone came up to me and said "Don't be pissy, missy!" But maybe I'm just sensitive.

Excellent review as usual, El Santo.
However, I think you misread the "I'm popcorn!" strip. The popcorn appearing isn't a non sequitur, nor is it gigantic. It's a close-up of the previous speaker's hand and the popcorn he's holding (which has presumably been devoured by the last panel).
Also, a talking point that you totally missed is the voting system for recurring universes. To my understanding people could vote for their favorite strip from the previous week and then that universe would make another appearance at some point in the following week. This is what accounted for so many of the Science-Master Adler strips near the beginning, as those seemed to actually require some resolution.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he discontinued this voting feature?

I find it puzzling that a lot of people seem to think that, if they are aware of what they are doing, they are automatically excused. The best example being "I'm not a racist, but...". Rosenberg's spiel you quote up there also applies the same to him as to others. This is a review, and not a personal attack, and it's OK for people to question the entertainment value of his unending jokes about Christianity. In other words, maybe he should turn the other cheek.

What gets my goose about this (and similar comics/people) is that Rosenberg takes an "acceptable target", makes extremely cheap and self-righteous jokes, and seems to considers himself some sort of crusader for the effort. It's the comic-strip equivalent of one atheist nudging the other and going "aren't those Christians annoying?". In terms of humour, it's the same as reference humour: Here is something you and the author have in common. Now laugh to show your appreciation.

I don't mind jokes about religion. I encourage them, in fact. However, bad content presenting itself as meaningful solely because of its subject matter is something I hate (in fact, it's the same thing that makes a lot of religious stuff unbearable). There is neither depth nor daring in Rosenberg's religious humour. Every single strip is the same. "Aren't Christians ridiculous?". And it's always Christians. Not Muslims, Hindu or Sikh. Always harping on the same, acceptable target. No originality, and no risk-taking.

Re: The "Love they neighbour" paragraph of your review, it kind of reflects poorly on you how your reaction is covered by the second paragraph that you didn't quote:

"THIS IS NOT A PERSONAL ATTACK. Don’t get pissy, missy! It’s okay for people to disagree with your deeply-held convictions. This is how conversations work!"

It's clear you don't agree with Rosenberg (I'd guess because you're Christian?), but "Rosenberg must disagree with the idea of 'loving thy neighbour'" isn't really an appropriate rebuttal to someone suggesting that they don't respect your opinion on everything. You kind of come off as the person the aliens are talking about in the comic attached to the blog post - "Someone openly disagrees with me, they must somehow be amoral!"

Your biterness about the comic's political leanings kind of coloured the rest of the review from my perspective, even if you didn't mean for it too. Not that I disagree/agree with your rating or other points, I just wanted to offer a comment.

You know, when I first read this review and saw the first image I was all "Oh this guy's overly sensitive. He's one of those 'violence is okay if it's female on male' assholes. He wouldn't make a peep if this comic depicted men being killed or violently bitch slapped."

Then I clicked the links, and had to take back everything I thought. GOOD LORD, this guy is one of the most disturbed and mentally unbalanced people I've ever seen. I mean, in my experience, normally when people go apeshit about women being depicted poorly it's very skewed, but in this case... egads.

One star a generous score, Mr. Santo.
