Metapost: Don’t click that Twitter PM!

I’ve addressed this on my Twitter, but in case you missed it: if you received a PM from me, asking for you to check out a picture that I found of you, don’t click on the link. It redirects to a fake Twitter login that will steal your Twitter password, and then distribute spam from your Twitter account.

I got goofed up when a fairly trusted tweeter I was following me got spammed himself. (I’m fairly active over on his blog, and we do have a nice repartee going.) I got a PM from him, so I thought, “Cool. I have no idea what he’s talking about.” So… I got suckered in… and, like a fool, they got my Twitter password from me. And then it started sending spam from my Twitter account.

So, just to make it easy to kill this particular phishing scam: I didn’t send any Twitter followers a PM in the last day or two, so immediately delete any PM you may have gotten from me.

My deepest apologies for anyone who got taken in.
