Sarra Scherb wrote me to tell me about a Webcomics Exhibition being held at the University of Washington’s Henry Art Gallery.  (Full disclosure: U-Dub is sort of my alma mater … at least in the sense that I got a Master’s degree there.  Go Huskies!)  The exhibit is called “Morning Serial,” looking at the art and history of webcomics.  The site includes a nifty historical overview in the online exhibit.  (In order to page forward, you have to click on the spaces in between the vertical bars.  It took me a second to figure that out.)  There’s also a nice spotlight section, which I think looks at a different webcomic artist each week.

There are three special events as well.  Dylan Meconis, Erika Moen, Evan Dahm, Aaron Diaz, Spike Trotman, and Emily Ivie will be at the Henry Art Gallery Auditorium on the eve of Emerald City ComicCon (March 29).  April 14 is going to see a 5-hour comics day, where comic artists will scramble to put together a semi-coherent fige page comic.  And May 5 will be time for a meet and greet and coffee before the Day of Great Freebies — Free Comic Book Day.  (Which is a pretty swell romp in the U-District.  You can hit up three pretty easily, including one that’s half cafe.  One comic shop near there gave away old comic books that were not necessarily the ones sanctioned by the Free Comic Book Day governing body.)

So if you’re in my neck of the woods, check it out!  I know I will.  ”Morning Serial” runs from March 3 to June 30.

• 11:00-4:00 Saturday, Sunday
• Closed Monday + Tuesday

Also, bring $10 with you.  It’s free, technically, but that’s the suggested donation.
