I thought it was a very well done comic. But Anders was such a spoiled man-child that I couldn’t get behind him as a protagonist.
He was the Daisy Buchanan to Maria’s Gatsby. Only in this version, Gatsby gets what she wants and everyone is still miserable.
I liked it but the initial 50 pages had this kind of feel that the characters were drawn as if they were in a Mr Men cartoon or as extras in Walt Disney’s Steamboat Willie which was sad because the story and the dialogue is top notch and the level of detail that goes into ordinary living spaces such as kitchens is absolutely magnificent.
Sadly, its hard to pay attention and admire the wonderful nature of the story and the background art when the characters have arms like Mr Tickle or look like Mr Skinny.
The character art gets much much better though and I started to get into it and finally I broke through the glass ceiling and like a liberated woman finally getting equal pay as men for doing less work I loved it. Its great
