That’s very true, El Santo! In fact, I’ve been sure to share that anecdote with many interviewers, fans, parents, teachers and faithful readers. Perhaps I should give them on site credit for choosing the title. Something like “Our wacky title was selected by my three sons: Clay (12), Duncan (10) and Logan (7) MacPherson.”

I wouldn’t change the title. After all, it does have a certain charm about it that grows on you. Juvenile, yet also innocently childish. The anecdote, though, about your kids naming it is just too awesome to keep hidden away forever.

Oh, absolutely! I’m always happy to see new people discovering the strip and listening to their thoughts about it. The first book was released almost a year ago and I’m STILL getting e-mails, comments and PMs from new readers. And still getting fantastic reviews–which I am so very thankful for, I might add.

It’s funny because Shadowline/Image publisher Jim Valentino expressed your concerns almost verbatim. He was afraid readers wouldn’t take the book seriously because of the title–yet it’s one of Shadowline’s best-sellers to date, garnering Harvey and Eagle award nominations.

So, I don’t know. Perhaps I will post an “About” page, perhaps not. I must admit that it’s quite enjoyable for me to see people discovering the strip on a daily basis, especially readers such as yourself who decide to finally “look past the name” and dive into the amazing world of Terra Somnium. If I create an “About” page, it may take away from the delight of readers discovering the “hidden treasure” that is TSAOEAP. I don’t know. I’ll definitely think about it.

This is a good example of one of us reviewer-types doing an indisputable public service. For whatever reason, the title put me off, but it’s much more appealing now that I know the facts.

Perhaps Dwight should tell the title origin anecdote in his ABOUT page, if he hasn’t already.

It’s not the word, it’s the suggestion of silliness, like when three boys in the back of the room become hysterical every time the teacher says “Lyndon Johnson.”
